Monsanto Protection Act Signed Into Law

The Monsanto Protection Act was signed into law. It was written as a rider on a bill that was intended to fund the government through the rest of the year, by Monsanto-sponsored Senator Roy Blunt. It essentially dictates that no one can sue Monsanto if they get sick using their genetically modified seeds or eating their GM foods. In most cases, we won’t know, because American policy makers refuse to have GMOs listed on nutrition labels. In most cases, you will get sick, as GMOs alter the ways your organs function, which you can learn more about on the video on my “About Me” page.

Go to Food Democracy Now and add your voice to the list of others calling on Obama to issue an executive order calling for the mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foods.

While at it, visit Occupy Monsanto to find out which mutual funds are investing in Monsanto and where you can get some Monsanto-Free seeds.

Because the government is not doing its job to protect its people, you can label it yourself by placing labels with GMO warnings on groceries and products.

Protect yourself by boycotting the products listed here. And call the companies and tell them the reason is because they use Monsanto seeds. Make sure they know they are losing business because they deal with the most evil corporation in the world.

Senator Bernie Sanders Takes On Monsanto

If you read my “About Me” page, you will see that I am selling GMO-FREE soaps in a network marketing opportunity. I strongly oppose genetic engineering, which is why I am very proud of the home based opportunity I have decided to embark on.

Genetic Modification is just evil. There is no other word to describe it. 93% of Americans want genetically modified foods and ingredients identified on labels. The entire country wants the bioengineering companies to “Just Label It”.

Bernie Sanders is a representative for Vermont. Vermont had a bill up for vote to require labels on GMO foods. (GMO = Genetically Modified Organisms). Their proposed bill to label GMOs failed because Monsanto, the largest genetic engineering company, threatened to sue the state. However, Bernie Sanders and Barbara Boxer of California then cosponsored a bill that will allow states the rights to allow labels on genetically engineered foods.

Currently over 60 countries have GMO label requirements. We don’t because we fight against a large corporation more concerned about their profits than letting consumers know what they are eating.

This amendment failed when it went to vote in the Senate. You can click here to see how your senator voted. It was voted down 26 to 73. Some Tea Party favourites voted against localizing the decision to the state level. What hypocrites. But, ethics are not their strong suit. (I will have to leave that for a different blog sometime.)

As overwhelming as it is, we must unite against this monstrosity. Click here to find out 8 simple things you can do.

California’s most recent attempt failed. It was known as Prop 37. It started off with wide support, but then the propaganda machine took over and misinformed consumers, lying, saying their grocery bills would go up $400.00

But, here is a great ad by them. Just because it failed – it doesn’t mean we have to stop fighting. DEMAND labels on GMOs.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Covers “Major Tom”

I am probably biased because this is one of my favourite songs.  Any version delights me!  But, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s version is just amazing!  Again, I may be biased because he is a super-cool down to earth guy.  Below is an interview of him at Occupy Wall Street.

It doesn’t hurt that he is easy on the eyes either.  I just had to share my youtube finds.  ;0)

Kale Smoothie Recipe

I am doing an improvised raw food diet to help detox.  I am eating at least 51% raw and 100% vegan.  I am working on a budget of $10.00 to $15.00 per day, and about an hour a day prep time.  I wanted to share a simple green smoothie recipe that kids (and adults) will love.  It’s affordable and quick and easy.  I adapted it from multiple other versions where I didn’t have the ingredients they listed.  Feel free to do the same.  When it comes to green drinks, anything goes.

I named it Chocolate Green-Nut Butter Cup.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups (12 oz) of your favourite nut milk.*
  • 1 tightly packed cup of kale
  • 2 tablespoons of your favourite raw nut butter.*
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 serving of Chocolate Green SuperFood by Amazing Grass or you can substitute cacao nibs.  I am not sure of the measurements for cacao nibs, though.

*If you have more time and money to invest, make your own nut milk and your own nut butter.

Rinse the kale thoroughly.  Put all ingredients in a high quality blender.  Put the liquids first, then the softer ingredients, and then the harder ingredients.  I blend it for about 30 seconds.  And voila – you have a yummy chocolate nut shake which completely masks the taste of kale.

Sorry I didn’t do proper measurements.  I just wanted to share this with you and you can come up with your own ideas from there.  Let me know what you end up doing.
